Digital Clutter Clearing: Techniques to Tackle Your Technology
Digital clutter hides in every computer, mobile phone, and tablet. From photographs and social media accounts to office documents and multimedia, everyone has a substantial digital footprint filling up their hard drives and cloud storage. That unwieldy amount of data means users struggle to know what information they have and where to find it. Thankfully, author and educator Angela Crocker has developed strategies to declutter data, organize information, sort out accessibility, and make a plan to keep that digital “paper tiger” under control. Workshop attendees will learn to understand their digital footprint, define digital clutter, and where to begin a digital cleanse. With a focus on common areas of digital clutter – email, photographs, and social media – attendees will be prepared to tidy up – digitally, of course.
Angela Crocker, MEd, is an author and educator who helps people navigate the digital life. She helps individuals find their way online (and off!) as they use digital tools at work and at home. Angela is faculty in the School of Business + Media at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Her bestselling books include Declutter Your Data, Digital Life Skills for Youth, The Content Planner, Digital Legacy Plan (co-written with Vicki McLeod) and, most recently, Work From Home Zone.
