Do you have a client that just can’t seem to get it? Despite what you do to get them organized, the ‘mess’ returns within a few weeks. It’s not you who’s a bad Organizer, nor is your client lazy. Chances are some of your creative clients might have ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Sadly, most of them are not aware they have it. Although 5% of the population has ADHD, 85% of these people don’t know they have this challenging disorder that can make their life filled with chaos, failure and anxiety.
Clients with ADHD are significantly more difficult to organize due to this brain-based condition and its accompanying co-morbidities. They have trouble remembering what they committed to do between sessions, forget appointments or are regularly late. They waste time looking for misplaced items daily.
Being able to identify clients who potentially have ADHD will improve a client’s chance at success as you will have to adjust how you organize and manage this client. Some basic strategies will be introduced. It will increase your ability to develop a system that fits for your clients, so they can achieve their full potential, or knowing when to pass this client on to a more experienced colleague.
