Karen has been working with seniors most of her life… and now she is one! In 2001, Karen created SmartMove to help older adults downsize, organize, move and clear estates. In 2009, Karen and Gail Shields merged their individual companies and created Downsizing Diva – the first Canadian Senior Move Management Company to become a franchise operation.
Karen is a Senior Move Management pioneer and Certified Professional Consultant on Aging. She is an active member of POC and NASMM – National Association of Senior & Specialty Move Managers. Downsizing Diva became a NASMM A+ Accredited company and in 2018, Karen and Gail were awarded NASMM’s prestigious Margit Novack Award for excellence in Senior Move Management. Karen is a co-author of “GO! The Essential Guide to Organizing and Moving, and an international public speaker on senior move management.
